GMod development resources, part 2

Weapon bases from necoarctic and additional libraries from Srlion and noaccessl. Part 1 covers the core Srlion and noaccessl libraries (Hook-Library, goobie-sql, RNDX, and more).

necoarctic's weapon bases

github.com/necoarctic

ARC-9

Modular weapon base for Garry's Mod. The base and content are separate - weapon packs sit on top of the framework rather than bundling their own logic. Widely used across the workshop as the foundation for third-party weapon packs.

ARC-9 Standard Weapons

The reference weapon pack for ARC-9. Useful as a concrete example of how a large ARC-9 addon is structured - covers spawn menu integration, attachment trees, and the full addon layout.

ACT3 - Arctic's Customizable Thirdperson Weapons 3

Third-person weapon base with extensive animation and customisation support. Different architecture from ARC-9, aimed at third-person roleplay servers that want per-weapon animation rigs.

ArcCW

Arctic's earlier weapon base, predecessor to ARC-9. Still used by a large number of existing workshop addons. Worth knowing if you're maintaining or extending older ArcCW-based content.

Arctic's Radial Binds

Omnipurpose radial menu system for Garry's Mod. Binds any number of actions to a radial wheel on any key. Useful for servers that want context menus or quick-access wheels without writing one from scratch.

ARC9 Sticker Pack Maker

CLI tool that automates generating ARC-9 sticker pack workshop addons. Saves time if you are shipping weapon cosmetics that use the ARC-9 attachment system.

More from Srlion

github.com/Srlion - additional repos not covered on part 1

glua

Build GMod binary modules using Go instead of C++. The bindings handle Lua state management, so you can focus on the module logic. Useful if your team already works in Go.

gmod-rs

Rust bindings for Garry's Mod binary modules. Compare against gmodx-rs (on part 1) to see which approach fits your project - different trade-offs in API design and dependency footprint.

gmod-wstool

CLI for managing, downloading, and publishing GMod workshop addons. Useful for automating the publish step in a server addon pipeline.

vtf-rs

Read and write Valve Texture Format (.vtf) files in Rust. Useful for asset processing tooling outside of the game engine - generating textures programmatically or inspecting them in a build pipeline.

playx

In-game internet media player for Garry's Mod. Streams YouTube, Twitch, SoundCloud, direct MP4 and MP3 URLs, and more. Practical reference for binary module integration with streaming and client-side media.

basic-gmod-shader

A minimal working example of a custom shader for Garry's Mod. Starting point if you want to write HLSL shaders and integrate them with the GMod rendering pipeline.

More from noaccessl

github.com/noaccessl - additional repos not covered on part 1

glua-robustclass

A class system for GLua focused on performance and correctness. Worth comparing against the stock table-as-class pattern if you are writing object-oriented server code that gets called frequently.

gluafuncbudget

Measures function execution time in GLua. Useful for locating hotspots in server-side code before committing to an optimisation pass.

glua-nonsrgbdraw

Drawing library that works in linear colour space rather than sRGB. Relevant if colour accuracy matters in HUD work - standard GMod draw functions apply sRGB correction that can shift colours unexpectedly.

gm_unrequire

C++ implementation of unrequire for Garry's Mod. Lets you unload a previously required binary module at runtime - something the stock engine doesn't support.

gmod-HighResolutionCamera

Takes screenshots at resolutions above the screen resolution. Useful for content creation work where you need clean screenshots of your server or addon without the resolution ceiling of the game window.
